The Entertainment Foundation, Lions to host fundraiser in Village on April 16 - Hot Springs Sentinel

The Entertainment Foundation, in partnership with the Hot Springs Village Breakfast Lions, will host the fundraiser "Take Me Out to the Ballgame!" at 7 p.m. April 16 at the Coronado Center, 120 Ponderosa Lane, Hot Springs Village.

The Entertainment Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has a mission to "enrich the lives of veterans, senior adults and the underserved by providing quality live entertainment and excellence in music. They are dedicated to bringing high-quality entertainment into the lives of those who may otherwise not have access to it," a news release said.

The organization's founder and president, Audrey Findlen, of Hot Springs Village, a retired public educator, has been a performer most of her life both regionally and professionally. When she and her late husband moved to Hot Springs Village in 2014, he started a ukulele group, and they performed at nursing homes. "She enjoyed bringing joy to the senior citizen community and saw the need," the release said.

In 2017, "her path crossed with three others, who also valued that same idea," it said. "They continued their friendship, sharing ideas and dreams for an organization that would provide professional-level entertainment to these communities at a reasonable cost to the facilities. Unfortunately, many of them simply do not have the budget to hire entertainment. One year later, The Entertainment Foundation was born."

"Just bringing that kind of joy and enrichment to these people is valuable for their well-being. We know music is a stress reliever as well as provides connections and socialization, which are so vital to a population that seems to be removing itself from the world." Findlen said in the release. "We want to bring back some of those connections."

Although they perform at special events, their signature program is "The Visitation Show." For about one hour, an entertainer transforms the veterans or senior adult facility into an interactive and engaging environment full of singing, storytelling and laughter, the release said.

"While TEF doesn't charge for the entertainment, they realize that payments are just not feasible because of budget limitations from these facilities, which is the reason they exist. Their success depends on the community," it said.
